Happy NEW YEAR 2014 from Drymill Road!
What a great year 2013 was for the band!
We played lots of new cities and met lots of new friends during a year that turned out to be our best one yet!
DC, VA, WV, MD, NC, PA, OH, IL, WI, MI, MN, NJ, DE, a “Great Lakes” tour, new festivals, new recordings, and a tour van that worked perfectly on every trip!
There are about 50 dates on the books for 2014 including new cities/venues and new festivals!
We have been writing/rehearsing some great new material and are well on our way to making 2014 the best year ever!
All of this awesomeness would not be possible without our fans and Drymill Road cant thank you enough!
CHEERS to YOU and to a wonderful 2014!

Drymill Road was recently contacted by a promoter to play a
festival in 2014. The promoter was very interested in hiring us
but wanted to review our CD recordings before making a final
decision. We sent our CDs to him. After a few days we emailed
to see if he had listened and to see what he thought of the music.

Here is his response…and one of my favorite reviews:

“….I did. You guys are different in some very rare ways. You haven’t got a tenor, you didn’t put “Love of the Mountains” on your CD, There are no showoffs on any instrument. You aren’t afraid to border on folk, new grass, Indie, cafe, uptown and or mountain blues style pickin. I can only think of one heretic that got such a review when looking for a gig when he was young. His name was Charlie Waller. I’m interested and we need to talk….”

Drymill Road got the job!

Sunday September 1, 2013

The “Great Lakes Tour” was a complete success and what a great time we had! The tour started out is Sterling Virginia with stops in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Chicago, Green Bay, Duluth, and finally International Falls Minnesota! BIG thanks to all of the guys in the band, Dirk and Patsy in Sterling Va., Ralph and ALL of the gang at Rinky Dinks, Jenna/Barking Spider in Cleveland, Stebbins and Uncommon Ground in Chicago, Troy in Green Bay, and Terri in International Falls! This tour would not have been possible without lots of help from all of these folks!
The guys in the band are glad to be home safely but we are ready to do it all again!!!
Looking forward to the rest of 2013 and the BIG tours we have in the works for 2014….where would you like to see Drymill Road in 2014?

In a few more days 2012 will be history and what a year it was for Drymill Road!!! Thanks to the dedication of my band
members and the fans, it was the best year ever! We shared the stage with The Seldom Scene, Rhonda
Vincent, The Lonesome River Band, and too many other great artists to mention!
Thanks to everyone who helped make 2012 such a great year: Ed Henry for your great blogs, Richele Cole and Bobs Sanctuary for your awesome photos, Steve Harris of Circa-Blue, Jenn and Andrea from Pickin’ in the Panhandle, and so many more!!!
2013 is going to be even better and we cant wait to get back out on the road! Look for Drymill Road in your town!

Tuesday October 9, 2012

The Outer Banks Bluegrass Festival Rocked!!! On our way out of town we played the Lost Rhino in Ashburn Virginia for the first time…Great venue, and the place was packed! Drymill Road will be back on December 7th!
When we got to the festival grounds in OBX we were very impressed with the stage. It stage is huge and the back drop is a beautiful view of the bay. Our set was high energy and complimented by a great sound system and an enthusiastic crowd. Later that evening we played the OBX Brewing Station. Another awesome venue! The best part of the trip was seeing all of the fans that came out to OBX just to see Drymill Road! I talked to at least 20 from Virginia
alone. Thanks for your support and we will see you at the 2013 OBX Festival!!!

Monday September 10, 2012

WOW!!! What a busy and amazing weekend! We started out in Hagerstown WV on Thursday with a 6am live
TV show, played in Middletown VA on Friday at 5pm, traveled up to Amity PA for a 10pm Friday show then Washington PA
on Saturday, and ended our journey on Sunday at Pickin’ in the Panhandle in Hedgesville WV.
Thanks so much to my bandmates Sean Loomis, Doug Ross (DR), and Dave Hurt for working so h…ard and making such good music this weekend! I am very proud to be a part of this band!
It doesnt matter if we are playing at 6am in the morning, on our 3rd gig of the day, or playing the last few songs of a 5 hour show, one thing is for sure: Drymill Road is gonna bring it!!!…and we did just that over and over all weekend!
After so much music and so many miles there was no better place to end our mini-tour than Pickin in the Panhandle.
I cannot say enough good things about Pickin in the Panhandle!!! They pulled off another great one this year with excellent BBQ, top notch entertainment and organization that you will not see at other festivals!
Yes, we got to hang with Sammy Shelor, Doyle Lawson and were treated like stars back stage but the highlight of the whole weekend for me was Drymill Roads last set at Pickin in the Panhandle. In the middle of a very up-tempo song, I looked up from my banjo and took it all in: Doug had just blistered another mandolin solo, the crowd was roaring, Dave was booming on the bass, Sean had a huge smile on his face, and I felt so much emotion at that moment that I wanted to laugh, scream and cry all at the same time!…seriously I had a lump in my throat!
That my friends is what this whole thing is all about and there is nothing in this world to compare that feeling to.

Tuesday August 21, 2012

Bluegrass on the Boat was the best!
Thanks to Dale for hosting the event, Mark for doing some fine MC work, John for providing excellent sound as always!!!

Looking forward to doing this again next year!

What an outstanding weekend! The CD release party at the Barns of Rose Hill was a HUGE success to say the least!
Drymill Road rocked the show to a sell out crowd! Of course none of this would have been possible without all
of the fine folks that came out. You guys rocked the show as well (if not more than Drymill Road)! The energy and response from the audience was BIG and positive and that definitely came out in the music! After the show we were told that this was one of the biggest crowds ever for the venue! We were also told that this was the BEST CROWD EVER in terms of responsiveness, applause, and energy levels!!!
So again, BIG THANKS to our fans for making all of this possible…We absolutely can not do this without YOU!!!
