“We couldn’t have been happier with Drymill Road!! The band was referred to us by our wedding venue, House Mountain Inn, and after listening to a few of their tunes on Google Play I was in love and praying they were still available for our date. Robert was super responsive via email, easy to work with, and the only one of our vendors to contact me first the week of the wedding to check in before the big day. What we really liked about Robert was that he was both professional but also easy-going which we didn’t necessarily get with other band prospects and was important for the overall vibe we wanted. We already had a DJ booked for the reception, so we had the band come to play before and during the ceremony and then for the cocktail hour. For the location and duration I felt the pricing was very fair, but honestly we had such a good experience with them I feel like it was a steal. The range of music the band played was impressive and appropriate for all the wedding feels–light-hearted, romantic, upbeat, chill. I had a few requests from their original music and a Beetles song, and then Robert suggested some superb classic bluegrass tunes that we went with for the ceremony. They played so beautifully–my husband and I both burst into tears when they played the song I walked down the aisle to and that started a chain reaction among our guests (it was a real tear jerker:) We asked them to play acoustically, which worked out great in going with the natural vibe of an outdoor ceremony, and it seemed to be easy enough for them to transfer locations to the happy hour. The guests raved about the band and I only wish we had planned to have them play longer. They were definitely a highlight of the wedding. My husband and I have gone to hear the band when they’ve played locally and will definitely be going to see them again. Can’t sing their praises enough!”

“Dry Mill Road is really good. We’ve seen them play four times: once at a concert and three times at private events. People rave about them every time.
They are great technicians with real passion for their music. The play a nice blend of Dead/Jerry covers, originals, and bluegrass staples. And — importantly — they also do bluegrass takes on songs that you know well but wouldn’t expect to hear as bluegrass. It all works great together.
They are perfect for a party because they operate right at the intersection of mellow and vibrant. They flat out sparkle and basically take the party to another level. These guys have a low-key warmth and charisma that charms everyone.
Do yourself a favor: check Dry Mill Road out next time they play near you.

“Drymill Road played for our backyard party celebrating an engagement and an anniversary in June 2016. Robert Mabe was great to work with, responded to several email questions promptly, and sent a songlist so that we could make requests. The band was the perfect choice for our event – great musicians, versatile, and flexible about the music choices and set-up. They are able to play a mix of traditional bluegrass, some country and cover songs, and a few oldies such as Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Grateful Dead. They were willing to play at a volume which still allowed for conversation and was not too disruptive for the neighbors. Our guests raved about the music, which really made the evening special. Absolutely no complaints or downsides. Would highly recommend!”
Carol S., 6/8/2016, Private party, Arlington VA
Drymill Road was absolutely fantastic. We hired them to play for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour, and I am so happy we did. Robert was my main point of contact, and he was always easy to get a hold of by phone or email. The weeks before the wedding we spoke several times to go over the plans and ceremony songs. On the wedding day, Drymill Road arrived very early to set up, and they started playing as people arrived to the ceremony site. In the middle of our ceremony they played an acoustic version of “Swept Away” by the Avett Brothers. I swear people in the audience had tears in their eyes! It was perfect! We walked out to a lively waltz they had suggested. It set a great mood for the rest of the evening. After the ceremony the band moved quickly to our cocktail hour location. Throughout the evening a ton of our guests commented how great the band was. I only wish we had hired them to play for the rest of the evening!
I listened to dozens of bands online before selecting Drymill Road. I know I made the right decision in choosing them for our wedding. The guys of Drymill Road are true professionals, easy to work with and excellent musicians. I recommend them highly without reservation. You will not be disappointed!

What a great group of musicians and music! Our private party of over 150 people here in Spring Lake, Michigan were totally thrilled to listen to Drymill Road and their talented, energizing, songs, both original Newgrass hits and traditional bluegrass sounds – filled with bluegrass instruments: banjo, mandolin, bass and guitar all played by a group of great guys, great original songs, and harmonious vocals. Everyone had such a great time listening, dancing, and just enjoying some great down home music! I was so happy that this group played here at our celebration of life cook out with family and friends. Everyone wanted to know, “Where did you find thes guys?” “They are great!” “I found them online at, drymillroad.com”. I was able to listen to some of there songs and became so excited to hear them play LIVE. They are so good! I was so pleased to hear them and even more to hear that everyone that attended loved their music, whether they listened or knew anything about bluegrass music. I wish we could’ve had them here all weekend every weekend. We were all very blessed to have them com here and play! Thank you so much Robert for being able to come here at our celebration. Please pass our thank you to the other guys in the band. Totally Awesome!
Dan W., 5/28/2016, Private party, Spring Lake MI
We hired Drymill Road for our wedding (pre-ceremony cocktail hour, ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception – the whole thing!) after seeing them play live. Robert was so easy to work with from a business perspective before the wedding; he was super responsive and organized.
The band did a fantastic job playing throughout our wedding evening. The ceremony music was beautiful – I had never heard an all-strings version of “Here Comes the Bride,” but it was wonderful and exactly what we wanted. They played a great upbeat fiddle tune as we walked out at the end of the ceremony. The reception was amazing – the music was tons of fun; everyone danced and had a blast. The band even accommodated our super last minute request for a song and let my grandma sing with them.
We loved having Drymill Road be part of our wedding festivities and would recommend them to anyone!
Ann I., 6/15/2015, Wedding ceremony/reception, Lexington VA
We hired Drymill Road to play six shows during the Congressional City Conference, March 7-11 in Washington, D.C. This conference brings together more than 1,000 elected and appointed city leaders to focus on the federal policy issues that are important to local governments. Drymill Road brought life to the conference during breakfast at 8 a.m. and during happy hour at 5 p.m. They had mayors from all over the country clamoring to bring the band to their cities, towns and villages. They had Councilmen and Councilwomen buying CDs and dancing! Robert, Sean and the guys were extremely professional, gracious and shared our supplied talking points with both confidence and charm. I would highly recommend them to any interested event or organization.
Lauren W., 3/16/2015, Congressional Conference, Washington DC
To start, I am a huge fan of different types of music and go to several music festivals each year. Other than the bride and the food, the music was the most important part of our wedding. Drymill Road was immediately responsive to our questions and took the time to understand the type of music we liked and what we wanted for our wedding. Essentially, we wanted upbeat bluegrass with some covers which would keep the crowd lively and dancing. They also played non-traditional music for the ceremony, which was exactly what we were looking for.
As for the ceremony and the reception, Drymill Road knocked it out of the park. They made the wedding lively, fun and had everyone on the dance floor. Everyone raved about the band throughout the night, and when they were about done, everyone was chanting “2 more songs, 2 more songs…”. My now wife already told them she wants to book them again in the future.

I will promise you that you will not be disappointed in hiring Drymill Road for any event. We look forward to working with them in the future.
We hired Drymill Road for our wedding and could not have been happier. We spent a while looking at bands in the area and after seeing Drymill Road perform live, we know they would be perfect for us. We hired them to play the ceremony, reception (including doing the announcements) and even an after party and they were fantastic throughout the whole day.
Robert was great to work with before the wedding. We discussed the wedding details, announcements and song selections over emails and phone calls. They were able to perform all of our requests and provided several great suggestions that we ended up using including the bride’s entrance. We were a little nervous about our first dance as we wanted Bob Marley’s Stir it Up, but had never heard it in a slow dance tempo. Drymill Road played it beautifully and everyone in the reception was blown away.
Chris F, 10/11/2014, Wedding Ceremony / Reception, Haymarket, VA
They were truly the best band we could have had at our wedding. Everyone commented after, from the oldest guests to our younger friends, that they were great. We really enjoyed them and are already thinking of future events where we might be able to have them perform.
Dry Mill Road exceeded all expectations at our wedding. These guys are serious musicians who know how to manage the atmosphere at a party. They had the dance floor full all evening. We heard nothing but praise for them all throughout the night and ever since. We had requested that one of our wedding party sing a song with them, and they had no qualms with it. Dry Mill also learned our wedding song and played it beautifully. They are accommodating, professional, and most importantly, a phenomenal band.
Dan N, 9/20/2014, Wedding Ceremony / Reception, Pine Grove, PA
Hiring a band I had never seen in person for our wedding was a nerve wracking experience. We listened to recordings and relied on the numerous glowing reviews we read. Robert was extremely professional and helpful during the long distance planning. I could not have been more pleased with the performance they gave! Everything was better than I could have imagined. My friends and family all commented how wonderfully the band complimented our event. Drymill Road was the perfect choice for our wedding and rehearsal music. We can’t thank you guys enough for being part of our special day.
Summer & Stan F., 9/27/2014 Wedding Ceremony / Reception, Covington VA
The first thing I did in planning our wedding party was to book Drymill Road! And that was one of the best and easiest decisions I made. Not only were they incredibly easy to work with in the planning phases, their music made the party memorable and so, so special. I received many positive comments about their music and one guest even asked me “How did you get Drymill Road” to play? I hear they’re really busy”. But the truth is that getting this fabulous band only took an e-mail! Thanks to Drymill Road for making our celebration special!
Drymill Road played at my daughter’s wedding reception last night. The next day Anna thanked me for finding “a kick-ass band” for the big night. They’re excellent musicians with fine vocalists and an impressive range of material in their repertory. They’re also consummate professionals. They handled all of the announcing that needed to be done; traveled with their own sound system, so I didn’t have to rent one; responded to all of my questions thoroughly, graciously, and with lightning speed; and worked hand-in-glove with our wedding planner. They’re a turn-key group. From my first conversation with Robert Mabe, I knew that signing this band would mean that I wouldn’t have a moment’s worry about the music, and I didn’t.
Debbie M, 9/28/2014, Wedding Reception, Raleigh, NC
Drymill was the highlight of our wedding ceremony and reception! Robert had great recommendations for songs. Nothing about my wedding went as planned. Drymill kept everything together. The ceremony started late and Drymill kept our guests happy and entertained by playing lovely music during the waiting period. They did a wonderful job playing our first dance song! We had our wedding in a barn on a sweltering summer day. All of the guests quickly ventured outside after dinner. Drymill actually moved the party outside and kept the reception rolling! I would recommend Drymill to ANYONE and EVERYONE! Don’t hesitate, book now!
I could have written much more, but there was a character limit! These guys are really great. One of our guests said “there really should have been thousands of people there to listen to them, they were THAT good!”
Erin R, 6/28/14, Wedding Ceremony / Reception, Pittsburgh, PA
My now-husband and I saw Drymill Road play their bluegrass/newgrass music at various local venues and events during the last couple years. Once I found out they also do weddings, there was never any doubt that we would have them play our wedding. They provided our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception music. They were professional, honest (pointing out that I accidently overpaid them and returning the overage!), provided great entertainment, and are all-around great guys. I think their style of music could fit with any venue (ours was in a modern art museum). I received several compliments from guests. My maid of honor said she got chills from their version of “Hallelujah” (in the style of Jeff Buckley) during the processional; for me, it was the perfect musical backdrop to a very emotional moment. Their music is one of my favorite memories from our wedding.
Stephanie D, 7/12/14, Wedding Ceremony / Reception, Roanoke, VA
We could not have been happier with Drymill Road at our wedding ceremony and reception. They are so talented, played a wonderful mix of Americana, bluegrass and “newgrass” both acoustically for the ceremony and then set up for the well-played reception. They were very professional and Robert maintained communication with me all along the way from a year before the wedding to the day of, and they have enough experience with weddings and gigs they were able to make everything flow seamlessly! They made our beautiful wedding amazing! Thank you Drymill Road, you guys were a BLAST!
Terri P, 7/20/13, Wedding Ceremony/Reception, International Falls, MN
My husband and I were so excited to have Drymill Road perform for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. We are huge fans of bluegrass and classic rock and after listening to some songs on their website and reading their reviews, we felt great in our selection. After contacting Robert, he sent us their song list – what a great mix of classic bluegrass, awesome covers (Beatles, Grateful Dead, Dylan, etc.) and original songs. Working with Robert was so easy – he is flexible, timely and responsive, and gave me great confidence that all would go smoothly, and it did! Despite a surprisingly windy day, the band played on and even learned a song for us! The processional music was beautiful and the recessional music was even better! Our friends loved the band and the music. I highly recommend Drymill Road for a wedding or other event!
Bonnie M, 5/4/13, Wedding Ceremony/Reception, Falls Church, VA
“Drymill Road provided the music for my wedding reception. They were fantastic! Robert from Drymill was my main point of contact and he was incredibly responsive, and followed up with me throughout the planning process, which really helped me out! He even accommodated a complete time change for the reception and even came early to set up a PA system through which we played some quiet background music during dinner before the band went on.
Drymill Road learned a special song for us for our first dance that was outside of their song list, and they did a fabulous job. They played the night away, and guests danced and loved the tunes. They also MC’d the entire event, announcing the bridal party, first dance, cake cutting, bouquet toss, etc and were so accommodating. I think they were a great wedding band, and I would high recommend them for anyone looking for some awesome bluegrass/newgrass band with excellent customer service! Thanks guys!”
Emily D – 4/6/2013, -Wedding Reception – Berkeley Springs, WV
We booked Dry Mill Road for our post-wedding party and they were great! From little kids dancing, to grandparents asking what bluegrass is, everybody loved the music. Several musician friends asked for the band’s info because they were so impressed. The band was also extremely easy to work with, since Robert is extremely responsive and on top of things. If we ever decide to entertain 180 people again (a big IF), we’re calling Dry Mill Road!
Dan S – 5/26/2013. – Wedding Party – Washington, DC
My wife, Sarah, and I had the pleasure of having Drymill Road perform at our wedding outside of Pittsburgh in August. Robert and his fellow performers were very accommodating with our time frame and song preferences and truly set the tone for the evening. The music (and dancing) was enjoyed by all of our friends and family of all ages (and dancing abilities). Nearly all of our guests continue to tell us about how much they enjoyed the music as well as the friendly and out-going personalities of the band members. Sarah and I have already recommended Drymill Road to many of our friends and family and will continue to do so. Drymill is simply one of the finest bluegrass bands and one of the best decisions we made for our wedding.
Tom C – , 9/7/2012, – Wedding reception – Washington, PA
Drymill Road played for our wedding ceremony and reception. Outstanding musicianship! Fantastic diverse song repertoire inlcuding well crafted exciting original songs. Drymill Road exudes positive energy and play their instruments effortlessly. Our guests had so much fun dancing and loved every moment with the band. The band seemed to have had just as much fun as our guests. They have high quality sound equipment. They were very accomodating, respectful, and friendly. I would hire them for any event and I would buy tickets to one of their shows in a second. Check out their new album and book them while they still have the time to play your event.
Ty C, 6/12/2012, - Wedding ceremony/reception – Princeton, NJ
THIS BAND IS AMAZING. Seriously!
I am a music snob. So when it came time to picking a band for our wedding, I didn’t just check out a few bands. I previewed scores of bluegrass bands online. After narrowing down to about six or seven amazing bands (really, these bands were all incredible–any of them would have been great), Drymill Road just rose to the top of the pack.
Part of it was their sound–rich and warm, and just really fantastic–but part of it was their great communication and flexibility. I came to Robert Mabe, the bandleader, with a very specific vision, and more than a few requests–and the band more than rose to the occasion.
The band was wonderful, professional, had a strong presence when they were getting everyone on the dance floor (imagine a rousing bluegrass Hava Nagila), and a great mellow background sound when they played the cocktail hour. They played “I Will” by the Beatles when we came into the cocktail hour, and they learned a special request “Wildflower” by Tom Petty for our first dance.
We loved this band so much that we plan to check their tour schedule and to try to catch them live when they play festivals or clubs. The friends at the wedding who are musicians themselves have made a point of telling us (even after the wedding) how great the band was.
If you want a bluegrass band–or perhaps a band that will play great music that’s not all bluegrass (Beatles, Dead, Dylan) but with a gorgeous bluegrass sound–don’t think twice about booking them.
-Debra S, 4/1/2012, Wedding Ceremony/Reception, Baltimore, MD
The Drymill Road Band played for our wedding ceremony and reception. They did a great job with both! Everyone at our wedding loved the music and we got a lot of compliments on our choice of bands. Robert was very helpful leading up to our wedding. We had a number of phone calls to go over the order of events and song requests. The band learned all the songs we requested and Robert made some great suggestions for music, as well. The whole band was easy to work with on the day of the event. I would recommend them to anyone. The Drymill Road Band really made our wedding an exceptional event.
-Leah K, 9/25/2011, Wedding Reception, Baltimore, MD
Drymill Road was amazing. Everyone our wedding reception commented on how great they were. They looked great, sounded great and were incredibly accommodating (I think I heard them play Wagonwheel at least twice as a result of requests). I would absolutely recommend them to anyone. Ryan and Alex
-Ryan C, 6/25/2011, Wedding Cocktail Hour, Poolesville, MD
Fantastic group! Attendees were very impressed and a couple folks even asked for contact information to book the group for other events. They were outstanding and obviously very talented performers. I would recommend them highly to anyone desiring great music for their event!
-Jim F, 6/11/2011, Fundraiser, Nokesville, VA
Drymill Road is a great band!! We loved the music, their responsivemness to our requests, and their sensitivity to the audience. All of our guests raved about them. We would definitely ask them back!

The DMR guys are amazing and made our wedding and New Year’s Eve celebration so special! These guys are so good, their sound, their vocals, and their new grass/bluegrass style is right on and exceeded our every expectation. We have heard nothing but great things from our guests about DMR. I would recommend DMR to anyone. Thanks guys…we are so happy. You are on the verge of something big, and we are glad we will be able to say we knew them when… Cheers, Mike & Eloy
-Eloy D, 12/31/2010, Wedding Reception, Washington, DC
Drymill Road helped make our wedding event very memorable. They showed up early, and played our favorite song as we walked down the isle as husband and wife for the first time. They have a diverse repertoire and a quality sound. They were easy to communicate with leading up to the big day and very accommodating. Thank you! Our guests loved you!
